Erick Hung, M.D.
Dr. Erick Hung is currently a fellow in the Program for Psychiatry and the Law at UCSF. He completed his adult residency training in Psychiatry in June 2008, serving as a Chief Resident in his last year of training. He attended Amherst College, focusing on health economics for his undergraduate studies, and completed medical school at UCSF. Dr. Hung is interested in HIV Psychiatry and LGBT mental health. In 2003, he started an HIV Psychiatry consultation clinic at the UCSF Medical Center. He is also interested in emergency psychiatry and developed an emergency psychiatry curriculum for the UCSF residency training program in 2003. Additionally, he is interested in Disaster Psychiatry as well as behavioral problems in wilderness settings. He is an author in a clinical handbook in Disaster Psychiatry looking at suicide and violent behaviors in the aftermath of national and international disasters. Dr. Hung has been actively involved in medical education and in teaching at the UCSF Medical Center. He was awarded a Resident Teaching Fellowship in 2002 and has received several awards for his excellence in medical student and resident teaching. He has served on the board of directors for the Wilderness Medical Society, is a Councilor for the Northern California Psychiatric Society, is a member of the UCSF Chancellor's Committee for LGBT Issues, and is a fellow of the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry. In the interface between psychiatry and the law, Dr. Hung is interested in forensic issues in the emergency setting including informed consent and psychiatric advance directives. He is also interested in occupational issues including workplace discrimination. He has a private practice in downtown San Francisco.
